  1. I appreciate the link bitdave. that was exactly what i was looking for. dolphreak
  2. thank you for posting those directions maverick. i was definatly missing a step or 2 but the video did help because i had done most of what you have here. the only thing im confused about now is the "ratio" . what determines the ratio? is it how long you seed the file? or how many files your seeding? thanks....dolphreak
  3. hey guys... does anyone have a suggestion to find a mpeg4 encoder? one that works with nero preferably. aparently i got a demo version and the mpeg4 is no longer working. i usually get the error message"need mpeg4" when burning a avi file with nero.and i can't burn it would that be something i can find on demonoid? thanks.......dolphreak
  4. captjim are you trying to download from a private or public site? the only site iv'e downloaded from is demonoid which is a private site but with a public tracker.(as stated by theusualsuspect). the pro of a private site is that rarely you find corrupt apps and movie files. another pro(atleast for demonoid) is it's p*** free. for example if you download a "p***" movie from a public tracker most of them have been downloaded from their original websites(debbiedoes.com)and those websites request a password to view the file. as far apps..i found that most virus contained apps come from public hosting sites.i haven't run across a bad app on demonoid yet..yet i say. as for as "the number" can you be more specific as to what "number your talking about? dolphreak
  5. the tracker tab on bitcomet? down there with summary, files, peers? i clciked on it and it has 2 things: 1.it has the "http//demonoid(the port number address for the site) number of retries, time left(stopped),status 10:31:tracker response error torrent deleted or not in pool yet go to..(i can't see the rest.something about demonoid 2.dht network 0 retries time left(about 11 mins and counting) is there a guide that explains what all the symbols mean? obviously i recognize the pause symbol and the green download arrow. in my seed only there is a oranges arrow(i assume that is a file that i have downloaded and am now seeding for others to upload. also im looking for the ratio..is it between the seed/peerand the health?)
  6. so whats the difference between say "a website that host torrents only" and a "tracker"? i was under the impression that all the tracker did was keep record of what files were where and made searches easier. is that correct?
  7. thanks kluelos. i believe that worked but when i hit "finish upload" my ie shutdown. i believe the file still went through because now its in my "seeding only" file on my bitcomet. im reading up on the "how to take screenshots" guide. iv'e all but gone to imageshack due to lack of time. as soon as i complete it i'll try to post the error message.
  8. yea..stealing is exactly what im trying to avoid.i figured i better ask before i did anything and im glad i did. i think i miss represented myself with that proposel. i ment by uploading my own personel files not ones iv'e downloaded from others. i have an understanding that the more files i upload the better my download speed will be. im a little confused about the idea that the more people that have the same file the better chance of others downloading. but the rules state(at least for demonoid)to search and make sure the file isnt already on(demonoid). so as an example if john being the first person ever to upload a song..say "purlpe haze" and nobody else is able to upload that song(because it's already on the site),i would have to depend on john alone in hopes he's seeding the song instead of there being 20-30 other people to collect pieces from each therefore making downloads for people who don't have it be able to get it. we'd all have the same song and rely on john to get new stuff to upload. which is impossible because he would have to get other files from either going to another site in hopes theres something on it he does not have yet(which would be considered stealing) or buying the album or movie and uploading the new files to share. furthermore the sole reason you spent 4 hrs making a torrent to upload is to "share" the file with others. your saying you only want to "share" the torrent you made with people only on the site you uploaded it to. stealing to me would be getting into your computer and downloading it without your consent or knowledge. one example would be if you have a truck and you put a for sale sign on it. john buys the truck from you and turns around and sales it to steve. how can that be construded as stealing? stealing would be coming in the middle of night and taking your truck without your knowledge or consent and selling it to steve. in no way am i condoning stealing,or trying to get anybody mad im just having a hard time understanding the difference between stealing and helping others obtain a file that you want others to obtain. thank you guys again for the help you have given me in trying to make my torrent experience a pleasent one.....dolphreak
  9. sorry.. im using windows srvc pk 2 and norton anti-virus
  10. thanks bitdave...so as long as i have 1 upload for every 1 download my ratio will be fine? or is the ratio determined by how long i seed my upload for others to download?
  11. hey guys.. quick torrent question. im using bit-comet0.70 do i have to upload the torrent i want to share to each torrent site i visit? example: i want to download a file from demonoid. being a good neighbor i want to share and upload a file to demonoid. now say i go to torrentspy and find something there i would like to download. do i have to re-upload the file im sharing with demonoid to torrentspy to not be considered a leecher with torrentspy? or will the uploaded demonoid file be distributed through all sites? thanks in advance to any replies.......dolphreak
  12. hear goes nothing..i zipped several songs with winrar and then put that rar into a folder. i then went to demonoid and clicked upload torrent. i clicked and saved the blue file into the folder that contains the rard songs. i then went to bitcomet 0.70 ver. clicked on create. i clicked on browse to find the rard folder for the source file. i then selected the{directory(multi-files)} option.(what it said in the video from maverick). the piece size i left {auto}. i left the{network type}as enable public dht network. the tracker server and dht node list i left blank(where i get confused as i dont know what to put). at the bottom it says output(generate.torrent file) then i click browse and find the above mentioned rar folder and hit ok. then the song.zip shows up in bitcomet with a pause in front of it. i then go back to demonoid and select the category. the quality(i put above mp3256). then i browse till i find the file with the bitcomet symbol in front of it(this goes in the {torrent file} space). under that it shows the tracker urls. (between the {torrent file}space and the {tracker urls} is where i get the invalid entry in dictionary message. then i type in the name space...misc.jimi hendrix(example) i type in a breif description and click finish upload. note i get the error message only after i finish the upload. i appologize for no screenshots as i dont know how to do that thanks....dolphreak
  13. morning guys. i was reading the new member guide on how to use bitcomet and whatnot. the guide was written assuming my firewall is already setup for use. i have not found a guide for that setup. does anyone know the best way for me to find out if my firewall is in fact setup correctly? thanks...dolphreak
  14. thanks guys. that got me one step closer lol. now it tells me invalid entry in dictionary. do you guys have any suggestions for that? thanks for your time. im sure it gets frustrating answering the same questions all day. dolphreak
  15. thanks for your reply and info cassie. i have read the above guide and it was somewhat helpful. unfortunatly im more a hands-on learner. i even watched the video for uploading torrents but it was very blurry. i think i about got it but posted a few more questions in the general help forum. hopefully i get as much help there as i did hear. thanks again cassie.....dolphreak
