  1. Thanks for the quick reply. There's nothing wrong with my computer, but Dark Shroud sounded like the patch could be a problem. Alright, I'll just leave the patch then if that is just fine. Thanks for the advise.
  2. Dark Shroud's post: http://forums.bitcomet.com/index.php?showt...84&hl=tcpip Dark Shroud mentioned that "If you want to undo the patch just run a windows update and MS will fix it for you." I ran a windows update but it says that I have no critical updates to download, because I had already downloaded everything earlier this month. So, is there other way to update it to undo the patch of tcpip.sys? Or should I just wait until next month's update date for windows? Please advise.
  3. Holy crap! I followed the instructions in the modem/router's manual, then I quickly realized that my ISP (Bell Sympatico) has fooled around with my modem before (I'm renting the modem from them), and all the options of the modem are now locked. I can't do configurations on it, so I can't do the port forwarding trick. I still wonder what made the difference: sometimes the port was blocked, some other times it was opened. If the port was blocked, what will the worst scenario be? Will I still be able to download, but only with a relatively slow download rate? I don't know what to do, sigh. But the good news is that it is working fine now, for whatever reasons. I just worry that it will stop working properly again in the foreseeable future.
  4. Oh, I did some research on the web, and just realized that the model of my modem is also a router. So that may be the problem? But I don't understand why port 60002 was blocked one hour ago, and now it is unblocked, whereas I didn't do anything at all. Do I have any control over this at all? I'm confused.
  5. But I'm only using a modem, it is SpeedStream 4200, it says that it is an ADSL modem. Any suggestion to solve the problem? I just tried canyouseeme.org and typed in my port # (60002), but it can't see the port. So my port is still blocked despite the fact that I set the rules in my firewall? (Posts Mergered) This is very strange. All of a sudden, things are working fine now! There are "remote" in my peer tab now. And when I go to canyouseeme.org, it can see my port. I didn't do any configuration at all! This is the log now: Windows XP WF Status: TCP Port is not opened in Windows Firewall. Windows XP WF Status: add TCP port in Windows Firewall Succeed. May someone tell me what's going on? I fear the same problem may appear. I'd like to know whether I can have control over it.
  6. Hello, I'm using Windows XP SP2, BitComet 0.70, with the Kaspersky firewall. I only have one computer at home, so I use a modem for DSL, no router. I started using the Kaspersky firewall a few days ago and there was no problem. But today all the "remote" in the initiation in the peer tab are gone. In the firewall, I have already made rules to allow for BitComet all TCP and UDP activity. I wonder what's going on all of a sudden. Please advice. In BitComet's logs, it says (I replaced some numbers with X for privacy): Windows XP WF Status: TCP Port is not opened in Windows Firewall. Windows XP WF Status: add TCP port in Windows Firewall Succeed. Windows XP WF Status: UDP Port is not opened in Windows Firewall. Windows XP WF Status: add UDP port in Windows Firewall Succeed. 7. Thanks for the reply! I followed your instruction and now got the problem fixed. I've also followed your advice about the firewall, so I'm using a Kaspersky firewall now. Everything is working fine. Thanks again.
  8. Hello, I'm using Windows XP SP2, and bitcomet 7.0. There's only one computer at my place, so I only use a modem for my DSL, NO router. The only firewall that I have is the one that comes with Windows XP. I noticed that when I turned on windows' firewall, there are only "local" in the initiation list. I went to windows' firewall's configuration and made sure that bitcomet.exe is in the exception list, so are the the TCP and UDP ports. With all these rules there, the "local" problem still exists. So I turned off the firewall and ran bitcomet again. This time, there're many "remote" on the initiation list. So I'm sure that the firewall caused the problem. How else can I configure windows' firewall so that I can use it and bitcomet at the same time?
