      READ THIS before posting

Please READ THIS before asking Before posting for help on this forum, please consider checking the Wiki FAQ topics, since most of the usual problems which users usually encounter are already answered in there. However, if you cannot find your answer in there, then read the next lines before you make your post. The following basic information is Essential, in order to be able to help you with any concern/question. Please, be sure to provide all the information said below, each time that you expose a new topic. 1) What version of BitComet are you using? 2) What type of Internet connection do you have (3G , ADSL 3 Mbs, Optical Fiber, etc.)? If you are using WWAN or any type of connection that uses a cellular type of long distance wireless (not including your own personal Wi-Fi network) then be sure to mention this first. 3) Do you have a modem (Make and Model required)? Do you use a router (Make and Model required)? If so, have you forwarded your port? Do you have any VoIP or telephone devices connected? 4) If you have more than one router, be sure to mention the make and model of both devices, how are they connected (i.e. in which connector of both devices is the network cable plugged) and which one of the devices is connected to or is the modem. Also, if you have more than one computer make sure to mention in this case, to which router is every one of them connected. 5) What version of Windows, Firewall and Antivirus do you use? Is your Windows 32 bit or 64 bit? 6) Are you using any type of IP filtering or protection software like Peerblock or ProtoWall? 7) If you are asking about a specific torrent or file that you have downloaded, make sure that you include the complete torrent name, as well as the complete names of the files and their respective extensions/formats (e.g.: .rar, .wma, .bin, .cue, etc.). 8) For speed-related issues, please run various speed tests at a site such as speedtest.net (make sure that no other computer is using your Internet connection and that all other programs - including BitComet - are closed, during the tests). Include the results, along with the settings that you are presently using, in your post, so that we may review and offer suggestions to improve its performance. The lack of said information will result, as direct consequence, in your post being ignored and/or deleted, leaving way to a clean and tidy forum, for those who follow the rules. Please, make sure that the post's title gives an indication of the problem ("Help!" or "I Have a Problem" are not good indicators...). Remember to include the maximum amount of detailed information (speed test results, the settings that you're using, which Tutorial/s you have followed, etc.) possible - the more, the better. Thank you for your cooperation. Regards. The BitComet Team

      Has your post been answered?

There are many reasons why posts are not answered. 1. Our forum is staffed by professionals who volunteer their time to help the file sharing community. We are not obligated to help anyone, but if you take the time to learn, and follow the rules, you will find us all very willing to help you. 2. If you don't review the rules for submitting support request, then you can expect either no reply, or a reply instructing you to read the rules. Such topics only waste our time, and we help members who read the rules first. 3. We all have our working schedule, as well as other activities that consume our time, and we help out here as much as time allows, so if you did not receive an answer to your topic, make sure you provided the required information, and if necessary, you may send me a PM and I will review the topic. Some forums have a "READ THIS before posting" announcement. This takes 30 seconds to read, so there is no excuse for not providing the information we need to help you. Please also understand, this is not "all" the information we may need, its simply the absolute minimum info needed to even begin to assist you. Sincerely, The BitComet Team

1. that is an advertisement, a shady way of getting people to use their client.
  2. My Torrent Ratio won't go up! :(

with private trackers it's very hard to upload as many members are competing to upload the torrents, but most have other ways to gain upload.
  3. Disk usage 100%

There appears to be a misunderstanding here, between bits and Bytes. If bitcomet reports 12MB/s that is equal to 96mb/s, approx your max line speed. 1B=8b Your upload is likely slower because few of the peers can take data from you as fast as you can upload and adding more peers means more work and you are overloading your hdd. In order to efficiently use your connection you would need a faster drive like an SSD, or you could increase your disc cache size to reduce stress on your hdd, assuming you have enough ram that you can dedicate to cache, or you can try seeding one torrent at a time.
  4. Listen Port Problem with BT Smart Hub & VPN

it sounds like you might have two routers, the hub and your wifi, then a third with your VPN. Did you reads the FAQs on wiki.bitcomet.com? One of our former staff did a great job on setting up bitcomet on your network. I'd also stop using vpn until you get this sorted, maybe even use ethernet instead of wifi, then add and diagnose these additional networks one at a time. It's possible you have multiple issues, and all have to be fixed for the listening port to work. the port test is yellow if port is blocked, green if open, and grey if the test cannot complete. VPN often blocks connections to/from our test server, as can a firewall or IP filter. Good Luck, and others should be by to offer more help
  5. Stopped downloading, suddenly no peers

is the trackers tab showing any errors?
  6. Hello Community!

    Welcome to the forum Christine
  7. VIDEO TORRENT DOWNLOADS STOP AT 99.9% ON MOST VIDEOS

if you can provide a sample of a small torrent that wont complete with BC but will with another client we could test it.
  8. Unable to download even with green lights

    glad to help
  9. Unable to download even with green lights

try this torrent to see if it works http://releases.ubuntu.com/17.10/ubuntu-17.10.1-desktop-amd64.iso.torrent
  10. Warning for uTorrent users

An exploit was discovered in uTorrent client that could allow remote execution such as adding new torrents. details here: https://torrentfreak.com/bittorrent-client-utorrent-suffers-security-vulnerability-180220/
  11. Disk cache resize/optimization

That is a lot of ram. The ideal amount to use varies by how you use your computer and bitcomet. The best advice I can offer is to decide how much you can afford to be used solely by BC and use that as your disc cache which can reduce stress on your hdd/ssd. More important I would consider disabling virtual memory/pagefile, since you shouldn't need it with that much ram.
  12. Torrent Task's "Completed On" Date Editing?

you can manually edit your "downloads.xml" file, it contains the dates for all tasks, but I'd backup the file first as any mistake could create unpredictable issues with bitcomet. With default install windows should save this file in your %appdata% folder under "bitcomet"
  13. No puedo acceder a mi cuenta en bitcomet

does this problem still exist? ¿Sigue existiendo este problema?
  14. Scoring system

that is unusual, is your score increasing? ps. I too was confused as I was looking at your tasks to find an error, and don't be too hard on Rubarb, it's often a frustrating and thankless job serving the community. Besides most members don't follow rules, we also have to deal with idiots posting spam on a daily basis. pps. Rubarb was just promoted to Tech Support last week, we will post a belated announcement soon.
  15. Bug in torrent file names

The development team has located the problem, the fix will be incorporated in the next version of Bit Comet. Thank you for helping us improve the product.
