  1. IC - thanks for all the info. :)
  2. I do have a ADSL modem though. Isn't that like a router?
  3. I noticed that programs such as Azureus or uTorrent etc instruct their users to open this or that particular port. Some even try to get you to switch to a static IP address. Something tha is impossible for some users such as myself. My question is, is their something similar in BitComet that i'm not aware of. I've been using the program for a while now and so far I on ly ever allowed the program access through my firewall and that was all I ever did. No port opening, no static IP nonsense, nothing else. I don't know if this has affected my download speeds or not. Although lower speeds I always thought were due to lack of seeds/peers rather than my own configuration. Maybe i'm wrong. Does anyone know if I should actually be playing around with ports? Is it just a factor effecting speed or is it critical to download a torrent at all (assuming i've already allowed program access through my firewall)?
  4. It seems that certain trackers are inhibiting dl'rs that utilise BitComet as their clent of choice. Firstly i didn't know this could be done with torrents and secondly are the BitComet developers gonna do anything about it. Like when they introduced encyption to beat ISP bandwidth throttling.
  5. nvm, i fixed it. Gotta pay more attention to file paths ^_~
  6. I started up BitCommet without an active internet connection. The torrent i was downloading showed the correct % it was at last for about 2 seconds. Then it reset to 0%. Now all the partial files it downloaded have been reset form their respective sizes to 0 Kb! However the summary at the bottom in the "total downloaded" still shows the correct amount of data (mb's) that i had previously downloaded for this torrent. Thankfully I had backed up the partially downloaded torrent folder and files. However i tried to copy this folder into the one being used by BitCommet to d/l the torrent but the folder doen't conatin the torrent file itself. I tried re-downloading the torrent but that just restarts it from 0 again. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to restart this torrent. :(
  7. I can't seem to find the tree with all the BitCommet torrent sites. It was there b4 but for some reason now its gone! Isn't meant to be under the 'Channel' tab? If so i've only got the "all tasks" folder. This is getting really annoying *sigh*.
  8. Question: The dl/ul rate in the main console shows one set of figures whilst the dl/ul rate in the title bar shows another. Which is the correct one? or are they both the same but with one lagging behind the other?
