  1. I see your point Suspect, but usually I would thought that if you do advertise your own program, it will be on the main application since then people will see what new features this new application has, like a little banner in the top corner rotating saying, want to play your video you are downloading?. Something like that so that in a sense it is advertising at the right area and what you want to advertise inside your application. I don't see the point to advertising something in a component where they already know what the application does already. Like the media player having a link to bit comet. I am sure that people already knows that they are using bitcomet, so bringing it to the front page serves no purpose. But if the advertising was bit comet media player, one will click and will bring you to the information page about the media player on the bit comet site. Well thats what I think.. lol.. how should I know.. I am only a CompSci student.. lol.. not out there doing stuff yet. :(
  2. Just had a look myself. I don't think it is adware since it is advertising itself, but I can understand why people say it could be adware, since of the, sorry to say this, the tackiness of the ad.. lol.. But to be honest, it serves no purpose and should be taken out in future version, which I think it is.
  3. Not sure, But I know there is a bug when you launch the preview button and the upload speeds are then set to unlimited.
  4. Not bad actually. V. nice way of doing it, but not sure how you can make this work without making it complicated for the user, since you will be an ip address of your home computer. The only way of doing is this is a login system so, when you login your ip address will be logged. The problem I see with this is port numbers that for example your company can blocked, but it is a great idea!
  5. One way to make this work, is when you open the torrent file, you get this window pop-up showing all the files waiting to be downloaded. So what you do is uncheck the ones you dont want to download now (ie, all except one) and check the one you want to download. When that file is done, you right click on the torrent name and then properties. You will now get the same window poping up as before, but now you uncheck the downloaded file and check the next file you want to download, and so on and so forth. The only problem with this is that you have to be at your computer when the file is completed to change to the next one. I am assume you are download a series of some kind.. lol.. I have done this many times, since download the first, watch it, and then the second.. etc.
  6. I am not sure on this, maybe you are downloading from a bad peer. I use something called Peer Guardian 2, that blocks bad IP address... http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ .. seems ok, but I have had your problem, but not as bad as that.
  7. It probably wont increase due to virtual memory using some of the space up. Eg, if you have 512mb of ram, then your computer will most like take up 1GB of hdd space for virtual memory. The only way to clear your hdd is to delete whole bunch of files. If you have a cd/dvd burner, burn all your files onto that that you want to keep and then delete them of your system. That shoudl do the trick. Also, this might be a bit stupid, but it can happen, when you delete files of your pc, did you delete them permenatly, ie.. clear them away from the recycle bin. You have to do it to permenatly delete files of your computer.
  8. The problem with what you suggested is that you will only be limited from downloading from one peer at a time. This is because computers cannot read and write to the same data segment at the same time, since it might re-write something that is there already, or think that the data has been written where in fact it hasn't. So what these client do is split a file up into segments, or blocks say being 1mb long and then one peer is allowed to write to that segment only, so to stop confusion. Thats why downlaoding in the order it should be will be unsituable, unless you want to download from one computer, where it will be super slow.
  9. what are the main differences in 0.68 to 0.70
  10. yup tripleQ, thats what I did, but used utorrent for that specific file, but 0.70 is out now.. I wonder if they fixed it or not? Need to check.
  11. yeah, I tried myself to rename the file, but it didn't work, so I had to use utorrent to download that file only. LOL
  12. Yup, that is what I mean. I haven't testing with TORRENT names being larger than 100 char.. but I might do one day. But char file inside the torrent needs to be corrected.
  13. Well, no thats is not what I mean, if the .torrent file has more than one file which is of length above 140 character, it will refuse to download it. So for example, if a torrent name is testing.torrent and contains files such as fsdafdsfsdafdsgsagdsgddsaduhgioudhsaouhdsapuhdgsaouigdsauhgsdhogdasohgsdaohgsdaousdgahdousaighusdhaghdsauhghhugsa.extension it will not download that file and give an error as what I posted in the first post. That is the error I got, which I don't think anyone has found, since this was like an one of case.
