  1. Glad to be of help :) BitComet is a great software, the best torrent client by far, for me. I even tried recently downloading through http, and it performed quite well. Even if little things like correcting links matter close to nothing, it's good that the whole BitComet environment gets closer to perfection. And like 1337 ppl say, BitComet FTW!
  2. That's good, but I was talking about the links of the main emule plugin page, namely here
  3. I'm sorry to bring it up a few times, it's just so there was the actual choice between the plugins. Also, why does the plugin version reports as being 1.22 when I installed 1.23 from here?
  4. Thanks for the explanation. I am aware of the virtualization windows uses, but fine grain control is something I looked forward to from the start, besides the basic task list and settings. Also, with UAC turned off and the option set to false, BitComet only creates dummy folders, with all real files and folders remaining in program files. I understand the usefulness of system folders for some versatility, and security associated with UAC usage, but having the choice to use the install folder for storing everything is much more to my liking. I didn't get to ask if you can change the links for both emule plugins, currently still being both xtreme versions, regular and beta.
  5. It's all about not spreading dozens of files throughout the hdd, namely appdata and such, when I can just have a tidy bitcomet backup. When having to back up several apps, each with tons of files scattered throughout the hdd, having it all in the same place comes very much in handy.
  6. Thanks, already configured it. So would exporting the task list and settings be enough, or is there an advantage to manually save all files and folders used by bitcomet, between installs?
  7. And on a non related note, a great addition to cometforums would be having the option to receive an email when there are new posts to topics which the user created or posted. I just say this since I've seen other forums with similar structure to this one, that have that option. Other than that, thanks for being so helpful greywizard :)
  8. So far it topped at 1500 simultaneous connections, but didn't seem to affect general internet usage that much, and I'm quite ok with being another node, after all it's what P2P is all about, right? :) What about saving configs and layouts? Is it enough to backup bitcomet.xml and downloads.xml (after selecting system.use_app_data to false), or is there any other file that should be backed up? EDIT: Sorry, just noticed the FAQ. EDIT2: Even though it was quite informative, a better link would be Files used by BitComet And please fix bitcomet emule plugins urls, it's a nice complement to an already quite capable app, but having the option, I'll happily use the regular emule plugin.
  9. As stated on a previous topic, the links for the emule plugin for bitcomet are still wrong, "eMule plugin v1.23" still leading to http://download.bitcomet.com/achive/BitComet_1.23_xtreme_plugin.exe and "eMule plugin (Xtreme Mod) v1.23" still leading to http://download.bitcomet.com/beta/BitCometBeta_20100818_xtreme_plugin.exe . One must go to the archives to get the regular plugin, please correct the links, as you're forcing people to use the xtreme plugin. Another thing is that after installing regular 1.23 emule plugin, it still reports as being v1.22. I've used bitcomet for quite some time with just tcp being forwarded, while udp was blocked in the router. I recently forwarded udp, and now I get a huge increase of connections, from regular 100-200 to more than 1000. It doesn't show on bitcomet because the statistics are only referring to tcp, but I have a network monitor that shows me the connections established, and most of the connections are through udp, using plenty of ports, most not being the port I specified in bitcomet's options. From what I've read, udp is only meant to avoid the overhead on the connection, so it shouldn't be weighing on the overall bitcomet performance. What is the reason behind this? No system settings were changed ever since forwarding udp. Another question I have is after selecting "system.use_app_data" to false, which files contain bitcomet config, as I'd like to uninstall bitcomet and reinstall, but I want to keep all my configs and layouts. BitComet 1.23 OS: Win7 Ultimate x86 Antivirus/Firewall: Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 Connection: ADSL over router
  10. As reported on earlier posts, I've been using hyperdesk flagship theme since bitcomet 1.21. No additional software is installed, and bitcomet worked along hyperdesk perfectly on both 1.21 and 1.22, only 1.23 for some reason changed the selected but out of focus task name background color from light grey to dark grey.
  11. Like I said before, I'm using hyperdesk themes, 3 of them and all have the same selected but out of focus almost black tone of grey. In 1.22 it was only light grey, which allowed me to actually read the task names perfectly. Yes, default Aero displays it in blue as well, but before 1.23, all hyperdesk themes displayed light grey, not a very heavy grey that's almost indistinguishable from the text itself. It only affects the task names when they were selected, then clicked outside the task list, making it still selected but out of focus, hence the color change. You can see what I mean through the pics in the first post. I don't have UAC turned on, which from what you say enables me to just grab the bitcomet folder and using it anywhere. Hopefully that is so, since the purpose of it is to keep all settings, including layout edits.
  12. Thank goodness :) As now that I know you haven't switched definitely to xtreme, that *bleep* will never rest on my computer ever again. Any idea of why bitcomet 1.22 kept a light grey when the task was selected but out of focus, while 1.23 has an almost black tone of grey? Another question, after selecting in advanced settings using system app data to false, does that effectively turn bitcomet folder into a portable bitcomet?
  13. Oh my, just took a look at the archives page and found that it doesn't just contain older versions of bitcomet and the emule plugin, but the actual latest 1.23 emule plugin version is there :S It should be on the first page of the emule plugin, instead there is the latest xtreme and the beta xtreme. I never intended on using xtreme, even when I used standalone emule, so it was kind of a let down. You should correct it as soon as possible.
  14. I don't have any automatic updates, all updates are done manually, by me. The graphics driver is updates as it can be. The only change was bitcomet version. All other software is behaving exactly the same as it was before.
  15. The emule plugin download page only have 1.23 xtreme plugin and xtreme plugin beta, check the download links. Only the archive contains versions of the regular version. Thanks about that folder advise, didn't know that, and might be useful to switch between versions.
