Yes, yes, I always do upload 2:1 for this reason (except when the torrent really wasn't what I was looking for). I ask these questions because I never downloaded a private torrent. Never knew there was a way for them to know who I am and how much I am uploading. All we are talking about is new for me. It's crystal clear now. All these rules seem fair. One last question: I don't understand the term "report" on the phrase "I might be banned if I report an unprecise upload" I must account for any upload I choose to make ? I'm not being paid to upload... Went after this user agent switching option to find out that BitComet could easily have been banned because someone disguised as BitComet made something wrong... I could do the same and "turn" my BitComet into uTorrent. Would be fair, since I'm apparently paying from someone's mistake. But won't do it. Too much trouble.

By your tone the answer seems to be "nowhere: each tracker has it's rules". I am loving this "false stat" ( the one that boosted my download speed). Good strategy. Will try that.

I think I understood. Now where is this book of rules saying that no one can put their noses on two trackers at the same time ? I did not know these laws existed... So, it means that uTorrent is cheating ? I heard once that BitComet was bad because no one seeded (yeah, right: now it's the client's fault), and then we were constantly blocked. Is this real ? Can we on a glimpse tell if that is the case here (being blocked) ? Or uTorrent's code allows the user to invade a private tracker ? Dont think we need much testing: Been downloading this torrent a long long time (40 Gigs, always below 200 kB/s), all along wondering why these guys are faster. It was almost finished, and I decided to test uTorrent. On the first minute this thing went to full speed !

Thanx Queeniequ, That document really helps me understand my own device. What comes forward is that uPnp thing I didn't know existed, and can be easily set even through windows ! The question now is how does it do that, and not how BitComet does that. Obviously I tried setting ports manually in my router. I know how to deal with most of it. And I need ports permanently open for many other apps But ONLY BitComet so far knew successfully how to do that. That's why I came here. I'll follow your advice and turn off dmz. But I still need the ports. Will use Windows uPnp. Won't need to pay for help if that works... Thanx UnusualSuspect too

I'm trying to open a few ports. I've got my router password, set DMZ, set virtual server, all I could do. BUT THE PORTS WON'T OPEN. Then comes bitcomet with it's UPNP: I type the desired port in BitComet configs, and now they are magically open ! SO, BitComet can control my router and I cannot I even tried "C:\Program Files\BitComet\tools\UPNP.exe" -add -app BitComet -lanip 192.168.0.3 -tcpport 9988 -udpport 9988 -q Didn't work Router is a TG862 Arris What am I missing ?

For crist sake. This innability is starting to piss me. REALLY. How hard is it to do that??? We don't give a f** if 10 MB will be dropped if 10 guys pass me the same piece at the same time. Sometimes we have priorities for "Parts" over "Speed". Also we understand that it'll not always be availiable. But Download THAT PIECE when able. For Millions of personal reasons we need this. I'm the only one complaining here, but let's not limit the world to this forum. That preview strategy doesn't work. RMVB headings is on the beginning... AVI is at the end... It may download in order from the beginning, but then starts to scatter. And so goes on... Consequences? We are AWARE!

Ok, maybe not for the sake of speed, but... When I'm downloading a long video... and I want only the beginning of it... When I look at the piece graph I see it is downloading the last and most useless piece... And I see the seeders are 100%. They could send only the piece I request. And if it's not availiable, send me the closest availiable piece... and so on... That's something that's really, really missing in this program. How many users download videos and other stuff and care about the same thing?

Good to know I'm not wasting bandwidth with "unsmart" software. Just to explain why I gave the idea: I see someone uploading to me at 200 kB/s, and another one keeps trying to push me at 2 kB/s... For a human, it feels like I should "Focus" on the first one, make a always better relationship, and ignore the second. (More helps who doesn't interfere) But thanx.

There should be an option to choose from which peer to download and which peer not to download. Some seem only to slow your download, competing for the connection. Also, to choose which piece will be downloaded and it's order ("painting" on the piece map, for example)
