Try the newer ones if you wish if no problems then fine stick with it if its buggy to you then go back to .73 :)
  2. When i download the openoffice torrent it goes right up to 250KB/s (my max speed). However i have a torrent downloading now at only 50KB/s but when i look at the speed my peers are downloading at some are well over 200KB/s some at 150KB/s and some even on 400KB/s. Now i know that they could have a faster connection then me but surely if there downloading the same torrent as me at that speed then shouldnt i be getting a lot higher then 50KB/s i have no other torrents on the go either? Whats puzzling me is that openoffice is downloading at my max rate so i know BitComet must be setup ok but my peers are downloading the same torrent at a faster rate then me when i know i can get a lot faster. :(
  3. Thanks for th info :) So basically if you can get max speed from that torrent then you shouldnt have to 'fiddle' with the settings as it wont improve anything?
  4. Just wanted to know about the 'test' download http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/index.html which has been posted a few times to see if you get max download speed. Why can you get max speed from that torrent yet dont get anyware near on other torrents i max out on that torrent at 250KB/s but most other torrents rarely get above 50KB/s. Also if you can max out for that torrent does it mean you dont have to alter any of the settings and they are set correctly?
  5. I use software called VCD Cutter, you can divide your film into 2 parts(or as many as your require) and burn to 2 discs :) http://www.topdownloads.net/software/view.php?id=9743 Thers many like this about, dvd splitter avi splitter etc. :)
  6. I was just wandering whether there is a favoured firewall to use for P2P i used to use ZA but lots of people said it wasnt the best for P2P. I know these types of threads can bring up lots of different names but i just thought there may be one thats chosen more and trouble free then others. I noticed in Bitdaves speed settings guide he uses 'Kerio Free Version' is the free version good enough or does it need to be registered for full protection? I quite like the idea of using freeware products when i can but only if there up to the job :)
  7. As far as im aware i have tweaked or changed nothing at all :(
  8. I have noticed that the speeds shown in the blue bar at the top of BC are completely different to what the speeds are saying in BC main download screen. For Instance at the moment it says 'Download: 80KB/s, Upload: 40KB/s' Where as im actually showing download speeds of 42KB/s and upload 20 KB/s, why is this?
  9. I have a 2MB connection with AOL (yes i know i should really change ISP) and over the last 2 months or so i have noticed the speed dropping to about a quartar of what i should be downloading at. Now im not just talking just about P2P but general web downloads, where as i can usually max out at around 250kb/s i find after a couple of hours surfing if i try to download the same file or test my connection that it drops to around 50kb/s and will never gain speed untill i reboot and even then sometimes it doesnt always get above 80kb/s. I have done various speed tests from different speed test sites just in case i was getting false info from one but all tell me my speed is around 50kb/s where as if i test when i first come online it will be at 250kb/s. AOL have tested my BT line and assure me all is ok there end and they do not throttle there speeds either and have suggested my PC is at fault. I have also borrowed a friends router to replace my modem just in case it was that, i have also scanned for spyware/adware/trojans and viruses but all have come back clear. I also reformatted pc just in case it was 'clogged up' but still no joy. I am running Windows Xp Pro Sp2 1GB Ram 3.0ghz P4 Has anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening?
  10. Is this version considered stable or is .70 still the most stable version available?
  11. thanks for the advice, i have now chosen a different port number as it was quite low, hopefully that will deal with this problem :)
  12. So i should definatly block this when the option apears again.
  13. I have recently switched to freeware antivirus Comodo but when i run BitComet i get these pop-ups appearing, has anyone got comodo and if this happenes to them what should i do?
  14. No you dont have to wait before you can open what youve downloaded. Just click on 'open directory' and you can access your downloads. :) Your upload amount will always be a lot lower, because you always download faster then you upload, to help the community along you should try and leave it uploading if people are still getting it to at least the 700mb which you have got.
  15. Thanks for the reply DS thats cleared up those nagging problems ive been wondering about :)
