  1. I am currently having a weird problem while trying to download a few games. It keeps on stoping the download and saying there was "errorA occured while sharing <file location>" i have restarted the downloads and Bitcomet itself a few times but nothing has worked. Need any help I can get
  2. I have figured out that ZA is ot the problem, and for what small time I have to look at the speeds, with ZA running I get higher rates faster. I guess this means Either Media Center dosn't like it (even though I had this problem on my XP Home), or since I'm not admin, that screws with it. I wonder if BitComet is ok with Dual Core?
  3. if "0" is under the error colum then that means there are no errors. I don't really understand what the problem is. Are you trying to upload, download, or what?
  4. First, update to version .68. Second, you can always limit the upload speed to have a bit more control over things, but it all depends on your tracker and how many peers happen to have certain files. Many other people often lower the upload rate, thus not letting you download at full speed. 20KB/S is still really good for me, and I always seem to upload more than I download for the reason above.
  5. I would uninstall ZA but it is a gret program and the admin would be pissed. This happening has a wierd pattern. BitComet will run smoothly some times, but when it gives me the thing, I can not run it for a couple hours and it will work for the next few hours. I have also updated to 0.68 to see if that would help, but the problem persists as above
  6. Awesome idea!!! I totally agree. That would help a lot when you download something and it has all this info about it in the title.
  7. BitComet does have a web browser built in, and that has good enough for me untill I read that. That would make a really good feature for BitComet, but would probably take a while to script. I support this
  8. I would have to agree with Dark_Shroud. Open Source would be really bad for BitComet. Most of the people that would use the source would only use it to embed hacks into it so people that download the third party "patches" people would get virus/adware/spyware and blame it on BitComet. Thiswould mean less people use it and the BitComet team would have to get fixes out and have to deal with more than bugs.
  9. If the other 3 that you don't want have already started downloading then it is not a good thing to stop them. I believe the newer BitComet versions can detect if the file is already there and just continue. The partial files should be in the same general area as the other ones, depending on how the torrent is configured to download. If you have the files sitting there then I would go delete them and just start over when you want to download the rest of them
  10. I have also noticed that uploads go a lot faster than downloads. Because of that, I usually limit the upload speed to like 10 KB/S. That should not be the problem though. BitTorrents can sometimes be a lot slower than website downloads depending on where you get the torrent, how many trackers it has, and how goo those trackers are. BitTorrent downloading can sometimes be as simple as picking the wrong torrent from a list. One thing you can do to get better downloads is on the website you get the torrent off of, make sure it has a green health bar or over 200% health. If you can't find the health then make sure the torrent has at least 10 seeds, the more seeds the better. That's just about as help as I can offer right now
  11. Definatly get the latest client. That should not be something you are forced to do. Updating should be done as soon as you hear of the new client. If that doesn't work then I don't really know what to do. Sorry I can't be more help.
  12. The one thing I can think of is that the tracker that torrent uses is a bad one. Try using google to find the same file somewhere else and look to make sure that the file has more than 10 seeds
  13. One thing I can say that might help is to contact your internet provider and see whats up. What does the dialog box say when it pops up. Is it an ad, or a popup telling you that your internets out?
  14. Ok, if you are unaware of how programs such as BitComet work, let me explain. BitTorrent programs are kind of like other P2P (Peer to Peer) programs, exept they use files called torrents. Torrents are files that are used by programs such as BitComet to connect you to Trackers. Trackers are a kind of log that keeps a list of all the people that have different files that torrents use to download the files to your computer. I would have to recommend My BitTorrent for anything you need to download. They have almost anything you can think of to download. Once you find the things you want usign the websites search engine (Be sure to be very specific on what you type in to search on any torrent search or else half the things you get is p***), it will have a link to download ***.torrent (*** is whatever you want to download). Download that file, which shouldn't take more than a few seconds, and open it with BitComet. BitComet will come up with another window inside it. For a basic user, all you have to do is click ok. Once you do it should start connecting and eventually start downloading. The default path that BitComet downloads things to is "C:\Program Files\BitComet\Downloads". If you installed the program to another folder then locate that foder and inside will be a folder called Downloads. In there are all your downloads. Another way to get to the folder is highlite what you want to open and click on the OpenDir icon on BitComet's toolbar. That will open a new window with the downloads in them. Once you have the files downloaded you can remoove them from the list of downloads in BitComet, unless you want to help spread files and be a good person you can leave it up there so other people can receive the file from you (if you have dial-up, this is highly unrecomended). Thats pretty all there is to it, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
  15. The only antivirus/firewall thigns I have that run in the background are AVG and Zome Alarm. I have given full rights for BitComet to acess the internet for both programs. One thing I have yet to try is disable them both and run it. I will also try to change the "max half open TCP connections" before the thing pops up and I have to kill it. Well, whatever. Apperently Mcafee likes you more than my friend. Lucky You. I have no idea what Ivelord is and I only get windows patches/updates from Microsoft's website. Update: AVG appeared to be the problem because as soon as I disabled it and tried BitComet again it worked like a charm. Zonealarm has no problem with it and I changed the "max half open TCP connections" thing just to be sure. Thanks a lot for the help :) Update 2: Well, after about 2 hours of working, the bug/glitch/thing came back and now it appears twice as fast.
