how to get remote access

Recommended Posts

Assuming that by "remote access" you mean peers initiating remote connections, the problem is that a firewall is blocking your listen port. Opinions differ, but I have had a great deal of trouble with ZoneAlarm and don't recommend it's use to anyone. You can't just deactivate it, it must be uninstalled to quit filtering.

If you have a firewall on your router, make sure the listen port is actually open. Test it, with BitComet running, at www.canyouseeme.org. If that doesn't show that it's open, you'll have to figure out what is actually doing the blocking, whether the router, ZA, XP's firewall or some other. If the port isn't open, remote peers can't initiate connections with your client.
