IE/FIREFOX

BitComet doesn't require the use of any particular browser. It's integrated with a cut-rate version of IE, but doesn't require it, and many of us don't use the built-in browser at all.

If you uncheck the "Favorite" option under the view menu, that whole window goes away. Click on the "transfer" icon, then don't click on the "web" icon, because you don't need it. So just don't use it. In your Preferences -> Appearance tab, uncheck "Open URL inside BitComet". You should now be IE-free.

I use FireFox to search for torrents on the web, then download them to my default torrent directory as established in the BitComet preferences. I have BitComet associated with torrent files, so that when I open one, it opens in Bitcomet. But if you don't, the use the "open with" dialogue instead, or use BitComet's "open" function to open the torrent.
