What antivirus or security suite do you use? Please check the event log of Windows (Application, System, Antivirus) for any events which occur at the exact time when you attempt the installation. Also keep open the Task Manager and check if upon starting the installer the process gets created and subsequently gets killed or if it simply hangs. I am using avast! 4.8 professional virus scanner, only one that works well under 64 bit Windows. Not much in the event viewer. I tried to run process explorer but could not see much. Any ideas? My question was: "Upon starting the installer, the process gets created and subsequently gets killed or does it get created and then simply hangs?" That's what you were supposed to see in the process list, not "much". What version are you trying to install? Try disabling UAC before installing and see what happens.
