MY Wireless Modem and connected devices gets hanged while downloading torrents.

I use Vista and Peergarden2 and BitComet v1.17 but when downloading Torrents especially movies my connected devices and my wireless modem get disconnected and if I Re-start the PC again it does not shut down automatically and I have to manually do that but after re-start I get the massage that windows encountered a problem and have to choose from a list to run in Safe mode....Normally. What is the cause for this please enlighten me a bit and How to prevent it?

I feel breathless after reading that sentence. Could you maybe try punctuating it, then expand it a little?

For example, If your modem is disconnected, then everything downstream from it must also be disconnected. That being so, how can you tell that the issue is anything other than the modem? What did you try, and what were the results?

What sort of modem is it? Make? Model number? You indicated "wireless", so is this a combination of modem and router? If not, do you have a router or wireless access point?

What does "does not shut down automatically" mean?

You said, "especially movies". What does that mean?

OK ,sorry ,let me explain everything again.

when downloading any movie after maybe say half an hour I find that the download has stopped But if I look in the Bitcomet I see that it is still working,Downloading-but nothing is being downloaded.

The Modem's status at this point is disconnected.The connection icon in the Notification area of the Task bar says that I am still connected.even if I try to re-connect the modem again I get the massage "the device has been disconnected or missing". At this point If I check or suppose try to remove my pen drive through Safely remove Hardware I see that those devices are not showing here.

Now What I do At this Point is I just RESTART My PC,but after it shows LOGGING OFF ,and AT SHUTTING DOWN The computer Takes fore-ever to do just that,So what I do is I MANUALLY PRESS THE POWER OFF SWITCH and after a few second I press ON the Power On switch to restart my PC again and this is why I get the massage to choose either to run windows in Safe Mode ,or to re-start normally.

The Make and model of my modem is HUAWEI EG162G EDGE/GPRS USB Stick.I don't know whether I am behind a router or not but I do not own one.

I think now all has been clearly stated.

I am still at loss after reading 2 of the statements in your last post.

They seem pretty much contradictory:

Where do you look and check for the modem status?

Furthermore, "the connection icon in the notification area" of which you speak can be either the connection status icon of a network adapter or the connection icon of a virtual connection (such as PPPoE).

In fact for a PPPoE connection, for instance, it is customary to have 2 connection icons in the notification area, in case you chose to display the icon for the network adapter even when it is connected.

So, of which icon do you speak? What do you get when you right click on it?

(Maybe it's better that you post a screenshot or two of what you see).

Aside from the specifics which Wiz talked about, I'm seeing a general pattern of a nasty-sounding crash (hardware disappearing), and the system hanging when it tries to shut down. Since it wasn't properly shut down and left in a dubious state, upon rebooting it wants to boot into safe mode. This is normal Windows behavior, as from safe mode you should find it easier to recover from whatever happened.

The first thing I'd look at is your system and application error logs.

Does the system function properly and without these crashes as long as you do not run BitComet?

hi!

I don't know nothing about PPPoE,but the icon int the notification area is the one that has two monitor and a globe spinning.

and for the modem it has a led indicator when it blinks ,it means i am disconnected. And when this happens The monitor shows a red X mark. But

that's not what happens for me .The modem blimps but the Icon tray's notification area I see the monitors along with the spinning globe.

Yes my system works perfectly ,and even when I am using Bit Comet, These happens when I try to download large files specially Movies.

Where can I get my System and Error reports.

Well, your modem may have some reliability problems. You may want to search and download the latest drivers and firmware and install them. Maybe they'll fix your issue.

BitTorrent transfers stress networking devices to their maximum extent so that's not uncommon for devices poorly constructed or with faulty software.

Check this FAQ as well maybe you'll find one of these issues described here.

Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer

Since you ask, you probably haven't looked at it since you got the system, and every issue you've ever had since it was new is likely still in there. Clear the logs (don't save them), recreate the problem behavior, then look at the logs again. This should remove all of the old crap and show you recent problems.

Your system has always kept a log of problems it encounterd. You need to look at that log to see if it has been reporting problems, indeed, this is the first place you should look.The steps above are how you go about finding and viewing those logs.

This is pretty basic. Seriously, if you find this too technical, you really should take your system it for repair.
