aliyana77
bitcomed has an open portal and untill yesterday always worked great. i use it for years. no issues at all and i never had any problems with bit comet. and all of a suddon ,from yesterday,my download speed is up to zero(my portal is still normal and open) and if bitcomet runs, everything freezes up. i checked my whole computer and did everything that was needed...but it doesn't make a difference to my bitcomet. i did install a new virus program a few days ago,but i made sure bitcomet was aproved by the program,so i could use it. and like i said,my portal is open like always. i'm puzzeld and to be honest i don't have any cards to pull anymore any suggestions???????????????????????????????

aliyana77
1) What version of BitComet are you using? THE NEWEST VERSION 2) What type of Internet connection do you have (ADSL, etc.)? ADSL 3) Do you have a modem? Do you use a router? What make and model are each one of them? Have you forwarded your port? MODEM,PORTAL FORWARDED YES 4) If you have more than one router, be sure to mention the make and model of both devices, how are they connected (i.e. in which connector of both devices is the network cable plugged) and which one of the devices is connected to or is the modem. Also, if you have more than one computer make sure to mention in this case, to which router is every one of them connected. NOT MORE THAN ONE MODEM 5) What version of Windows, Firewall and Antivirus do you use? UHMMMMMMM WINDOWS 7 AND BULLGUARD ANTIVIRUS..FIREWALL...I'M NOT SURE.. 6) If you are asking about a specific torrent or file that you have downloaded, make sure that you include the complete torrent name, as well as the complete names of the files and their respective extensions/formats (e.g.: .rar, .wma, .bin, .cue, etc.). ???????????? AND I MUST CHECK THE SPEED TEST,AS FAR AS I KNOW MY COMPUTER ISN'T SLOW... I HOPE THESE ARE GOOD ANWERS

kluelos
Many, MANY people get bitten by multiple firewalls they don't know are there. Windows has no "firewall already running here!" flag, which it badly needs.

The UnUsual Suspect
Since you answered the speed related questions, lets review your speedtest, and what it means. First we need to address that speed is measured by your isp in "bits" represented by lower case "b", and BitComet measures in Bytes, upper case "B". Your download speed tests at 25.31mb/s or 25,310.0kb/s. When converted to Bytes, that is 3,163kB/s. That is the fastest data can come into your pc. Your upload however is much slower, and the way bittorrent downloading works, your ability to upload is what determines your download speed. Ideally you want to upload as much as possible, but not so much that your upload bandwidth is all consumed, or it will have the adverse effect. Normally we recommend you use about 80% of your upload for sending data. Your measured speed: 1.49mb/s or 1,490kb/s. or about 186kB/s. If you set your global max upload rate somewhere near 150kB/s, it will researve about 36kB/s for communications, and this should increase your performance.
