toblerone
Hi Something strange happened to my Bitocmet 0.70. All the default torrent clients on the left hand menu seem to disappear all of a sudden. Yesterday, everything was still there but when I ran my Bitcomet today, all the default torrent sites seemed to have disappeared. What gives??? CheeseFeet
Yeah, I have just had this happen to me too... I used to have a nice list of sites like TorrentSpy and MiniNova and so on and to search one of these all I needed to do was double click the search engine I wanted and *pop* up it came... Now I don't have that option, the only search option I have (and I have clicked Faves/Channel on more than one occasion) is the Transfer>Search option which lists 4 search engines... Where's the rest of them gone in my nice looking toolbar ? I've been through all the menu options which I can find and everything seems fine... They've just vanished :o :: EDIT :: I've been looking over the software since I posted and also searching the net, no joy... However I have found an image which shows what I am missing. If you look on the left you will see 'All tasks' and underneath you'll see the torrent search engine sites... They have all vanished. http://www.majorgeeks.com/screenshots/b/bitcomet.jpg If you take a look at that, it looks almost identical to my client... I have the same stuff clicked but the only thing I have on the left is 'All tasks', nothin' else..?

Dark_Shroud
Could you guys post some screen shots of your problems? So I can get an understading of what's happened. Otherwise I'll assume that somehow the .xml files for favorites were deleted/damaged. And if that's the case I suggest the easy method of uninstall and then reinstall. Bigbadbob
I have the same problem and reinstalling doesn't help. However if I change the language they come back but as soon as I go back to english they disappear again? I think the problem is in file 'C:\Program Files\BitComet\fav\fav_en_us.xml' as this gives an error message if you run it on it's own.
cassie
Okay. The same thing happened to me last night. This is a screenshot of when it happened: And now, this is what it looks like, as I am typing this post: Note: I haven't changed the language (it's in English), I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled my BitComet (v.0.70). In short, I haven't changed anything at all. As strange as it may sound, it 'came back' as misteriously as when it 'disappeared'.

kluelos
BitComet's integration with a web browser is chancy and unhappy at best. No other client even attempts to do this. It doesn't look to me like one of the better features, particularly given the lack of browser choice, and IE's multiple known security vulnerabilities. Nor is there any assured upgrade path for it. My suggestion is that you not use it anymore. What about the sites? Use your browser of choice. Copy the site urls, and paste them into your normal browser, then bookmark them. Create a bookmark folder just for this. When you've got them done, they can't be taken away by modification of the torrent client or corruption of its files. And you can arrange the list the way you want. There are many torrent sites besides the default ones listed, and those defaults may not even be among the best for you. So make your own collection and personalize it. Once you've got those bookmarks, then don't even use that pane anymore: uncheck "Favorites" in the view menu, and in your preferences, deselect "Open url inside BitComet", and you'll be shut of the minibrowser completely. Use your browser for searches: you'll probably be happier with the results anyway. You can use sites like Torrent Typhoon or TorrentSpy to search multiple sites, if you wish. Try it, you may decide you're well rid of it.
Dark_Shroud
Those are old scripts that use IE which is always being worked on. I was surprised they worked with IE7. Anyway use just www.torrentz.com and btjunkie.org .torrent search engines. They are the best for open .torrent sites.
pad
I had the same problem., so I reinstalled it and got all the channels back, it lasted a week and then I lost all them again .. So I'm stuck there must be a way to reinsert them, except the option does not appear to be anywhere in the preferences menu....
