Did you read the FAQ's? Did you try to:

change the port to 55555.

options->preferences->connection->listen port;

Then open/allow this port/bitcomet in your router/firewall and check any software firwalls to allow BC.

The same thing happens to me, but in my case i have this problem in BitComet 0.68 , 0.70 , 0.70beta versions.

I've unistalled/installed many times, but nothing changed. <_<

And i closed both firewalls(Syware doctor, OTEnet Security Kit) and opened it, but it shows me the same thing!!!

What should i do??

Spyware Doctor is not a firewall. I didn't find anything in English about OTEnet Security. But let me make this simple. You need to allow BitComet full access. Outgoing & Incomeing aka Server Acess. You also need to allow it TCP & UDP access.

Same problem with me....after i formatted my comp.

PLEASE HELP!!!

More information is needed. What OS & service pack, what security software, do you have a router, did you try that stupid/wrong patch for SP-2?

Software firewalls are pretty dumb this way. You probably had an existing rule for the old version. When you installed the new version, your firewall said, "This is a different program, so I'm not gonna allow it through".

Delete your old rule, and make a new one for BitComet. If you have more than one firewall, well, you've been asking for trouble and now have it, so if you don't want to do the smart thing and delete the others, make sure they all have a new rule allowing Bitcomet. It only takes one to stop it.

I'm having a similiar problem. I don't have a router and i disabled my Norton Internet Security. I belong to a private tracker site and it says i'm not connectable. I can download and upload files when i'm still leeching, but as soon as i get 100% of the file and begin to seed, no one can connect to me? I did a port check on several ports via a program called "Shields UP!!" and it said the following:

"Your system has achieved a perfect "TruStealth" rating. Not a single packet — solicited or otherwise — was received from your system as a result of our security probing tests. Your system ignored and refused to reply to repeated Pings (ICMP Echo Requests). From the standpoint of the passing probes of any hacker, this machine does not exist on the Internet."

I called my Verizon DSL and they told me that all my ports are not being blocked or protected by them. Then again, the first girl i talked to didn't even know what a port was! I'm stuck, please help!

You have a firewall blocking your listen port.

It's up to you to know what's running on your own computer, so you'll have to find it and make an exception rule for it.

Use Task Manager to show you what processes are running on your machine. Processes, the man said, not applications. Then use Google to figure out what they are and what they do. One or more of them will likely be your firewall.

If you've installed XP SP2, the windows firewall is active by default. So if you haven't dealt with it, that's at least part of your problem.

I have the same problem but I'm not the smartest girl in the world when it comes to these things. And whenever I try to change the port my bitcomet crashes . Now i have no idea how to configure my firewall let alone get to my firewall to help the situation.

I'm basically screwed , if anyone can shed some light please do it's much appreciated.

Paramore,

to keep from confusing this post even more then it is already (various member with a mix of related/unrelated problems), I will ask that you make a new topic and include what windows version you are using, what firewall, router (if any) and what you mean by "bit comet crashes" (program closes with error message, or just don't work?)

I will gladly reply to your new topic,

Suspect
